Hi all,
my name is Marisa Iannaccone, I am 25 years old and I live in the beautiful Portland, Oregon. I am a current graduate student at Portland State University, studying Inclusive Elementary Education. I have a love for teaching and a love for working with children and young adults with disabilities. I have a particular interest in assistive technology and making sure everyone has a accesible way to communicate. I grew up in Santa Monica, Ca and moved to Oregon about 7 years ago for my undergraduate education. I loved the Pacific North West so much I never left! I love to travel and have lived on two military bases, where I taught pre-school.

Education
I received my Bachelors degree from Oregon State Univeristy in Human Development and Family Studies. I am currently a graduate student at Portland State Univeristy in the Inclusive Elementary Educator Program ( IEEP). The IEEP program is a two year, full-time program, resulting in a Masters of Science in Inclusive Education, as well as two teaching license's; general education k-12, and special education k-12. In addition, I am recieveing a certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Caretaker for young women with Rett's Syndrome. Experience in proper lifting technique, personal care, augmentative communication devices, tube feeding and seizure protocol. Rett syndrome is a neurodevelopmenal disorder that affects girls almost exclusively. It is characterized by normal early growth and development followed by a slowing of development, loss of purposeful use of the hands, distinctive hand movements, slowed brain and head growth, problems with walking, seizures, and intellectual disability.
