Growth Mindset, if you are a parent or educator you have probably heard of it, but what is it?
Growth Mindset is based on Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck's work. Basically Growth Mindset is the idea that some students rebounded while other students may seem devastated by even the smallest setbacks. After studying the behavior of thousands of children, Dr. Dweck coined the terms fixed mindset and growth mindset to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Therefore they put in extra time and effort, and that leads to higher achievement.
Growth Mindset was a huge topic of discussion in my school last year, after a lot of research and discussion with my colleagues I found some great books on growth mindset, as well as teacher made activities!

1. Class Dojo Well Class Dojo is more than just some cute, student friendly videos on growth mindset. It is also an awesome interactive platform you can use in your classroom to track students behavior. My second graders loved Class Dojo last year and I think its pretty fabulous. Not only does it motivate students, it allows parents to be notified when their child's behavior changes, and receive a weekly summary of their child's behavior.
2. Meet the Robinsons clip- This clip is a great example of growth mindset.
